Isaac Newton was a true scientist since he did experiments to prove his points, but, Leibniz and Euler were superstitious ideologues because they virtually did none. They used mathematics and religious fanaticism to justify their poisoning of reality and mechanics. Leibniz introduced the first subterfuge: Kinetic energy. Euler the second: Angular momentum.
Reading Leibniz' and Euler's theoretical works is almost shocking. They base the concept of reality on religious books like the old testament and the fraudulent nonsense attributed to "Jesus Christ" which was actually written by those in the Vatican. Like the vast majority of people who need the "opiate for the masses" they did not have the capacity (or curiosity? or work ethic?) to analyze reality via experimentation. Another point to add is that Leibniz and Euler were at the forefront of mathematical development and in reality their achievements aren't as astounding as people claim. Almost everything was there to be "discovered."
Unfortunately the damage has been done and now people believe that a magnitude 9 earthquake has one gigalion (billion) times the energy of a magnitude 3 earthquake, and virtually no one is able to comprehend concepts like gyroscopic motion.
